Ending on a High…

Hi all, sorry for the lack of posts, been on holiday for a couple of weeks! Trying to get back into the swing of things and work.

Managed to write 2000 words this weekend… I am within touching distance (a few hundred words) of completing the current instalment!

I am up to the climatic part, where scores are settled and one last character (or two) has to die. And I know I must do it justice after putting the reader through so many highs and lows and keeping them guessing…

Self imposed deadlines…

It is sometimes tempting after so many words and so many missed self imposed deadlines to rush the ending and put it to bed (so to speak) but I think the most important thing is not to rush any part of the book especially the ending. Readers can always tell when your heart is not in it, and you’re thinking more about the exit than the ending!

Things to consider when writing ebooks…

That said, this first draft stage must end fairly soon as it has just crept over the 40’000 word mark and there is so much other than writing to do like the editing which can take 3 or 4 drafts or more and then there is the launching, social media marketing, front cover design etc. These are all things you have to consider when you write an ebook. The Initial draft is by far the most important aspect, but only half the battle. There is always something to do, you just have to make sure you are able to draw a line under each stage and say: “No More, Let’s Move On!”
